The other day I had a young client who came in for a haircut. Once in my chair and caped, her mother asked how much a haircut would cost. When I answered $30, she rolled her eyes and mentioned to her daughter that she had better appreciate the cut.
I, feeling uncomfortable with the situation, asked the client if the shopping bags she had contained clothing. After confirming that her mother had just spent a good amount on clothing, I broke it down for her......... To use later if her mother brought up the cost again.
The outfit she bought cost $60........... When asked how often she would wear that outfit each month.......... We figured once a week. So she would wear that outfit 4 times that month. that is $15 for each day that she wears that outfit in one month...... okay, lets stretch it out to 3 months a cute pair of shorts and top will last a season. wearing that oufit once a week for 12 weeks comes to $5 per use. That $30 haircut in one month costs $1 per day and only and if cut only once...

Found this site for lute building: http://www.vanedwards.co.uk/renlute.htm
Emailed the guy, he seemed still active in hosting the course and helping students.
Lots of links for materials and tools.
Plust, the course and materials should cost about ~$400, compared to $700 for a pre-built kit from England. Is it worth it? Guess I'll find out!
I ordered a blueprint for a lute, but it turned out to be a lute body with a "modern" guitar's tuners - not gonna fly...

A fairy went a marketing....She bought a little fish; show a fishShe put it in a crystal bowlUpon a golden dish hands cupped like a boulAn hour she sat in wonderment watch fishAnd watched its sliver gleam,And then gently took it upAnd slipped it in a stream. gently placed fish on the floorA fairy went a marketing.... back to center stageShe bought a winter gown Big cloak un flurildAll stitched about with gossamerAnd lined with thistledown. She wore it all afternoon put cloak on With prancing and delight, danced aboutThen gave it to a little frog placed cloak around fellow classmateTo keep him warm at night. Tucked in cloakA fairy went a marketing.... Back to center stageShe bought a colored bird; pick up bird prop and held it upIt sang the sweetest ,shrillest songThat she had ever heard. made the song from the bird go offShe sat beside its painted cageAnd listened...

40 Years celebrated since the kingdom of the west was founded. From them we wrestled our freedom with a strength of northern people hardened by long and hard winters. The crown of AnTir has been a beacon of strength for us. Upon arrival at the celebration festival, Arnorr and Piers and some others had already staked out the encampment and shelters. After the household graciously helped us with our shelter and supplies, I began to feel the sting of the plague.
The next day I was bed stricken and fought off the devil plague for the next two days. On the third day I decided to take the wagon to find the apothecary to look for herbs rumored to have healing powers. My father accompanied me to the apothecary who worked her magic on me. I returned to my village and slept for a full week to fend off the plague that struck at my heart and lungs. By the fourth day of rest I was starting to shake the demons clutches. The marks from the leeches were subsiding and I decided to once again journey back to the celebration. I had responsibilities looming on Saturn's day.

Well 40 year celebration has come and gone. First I want to say that I had a blast! I can't wait for the photos to start surfacing. Now the event was a bit of a let down as I expected it to be Pennsic of the West, and it wasn't. There were so few people there the first weekend that the merchants were complaining. But we did have fun at night as usual. The second weekend was much better as there were a lot more people there. The bardics were great, the company even better! Thanks everyone for making it such a great event!

I have a little mantra I use before going into work............ No it isn't "Don't screw it up." It is "Do good hair." Doing good hair 1) Makes the client feel comfortable in you and your abilities. 2) Makes you more confident, reinforcing #1. 3)Makes it easier to sell product to the client, and helps them in feeling comfortable in comming back to see you, and lastly, and I won't lie, it helps with tips.
Right now as a new stylist in a new salon, I make minimum wage + tips. as I bring in more clientelle and speed up in my techniques, I will start making commision of 40%, after a year, 45% after another year, AND if I show that I'm a well rounded stylist and have consistanly brought in clientelle 50%........... It all goes back to "Do good hair." and you know what? I am doing good hair........ I'm doing 'gooder' hair all the time, and getting gooder and gooder.
Today I did an updo for a bridesmaid. several of the stylists pulled me aside and complimented me on my updo, which was a great...

Ul De Rico
The Rainbow Goblins
The intro was done while working a craft project with audience/ follow class mates. I wore a white dress with white shoes and prisums from my ears.
Blue words = action
This book was first published in 1978. Ul de Rico, otherwise known as Count Ulderico Gropplero di Troppenburg was born in 1944 in Udline, Italy and lived for many years in Munich. He received his Graduate diploma in stage and costume design under the direction of Professor Rudolf Heinrich. He has now devoted himself almost exclusively to portrait painting. He is still alive and lives in France.
I was a collector of rainbow art and unicorns, as most ten year old girls are, when my Aunt sent me this book. I loved the story just as much as the colourful art. I once told a very short version of this story at a children’s bardic one night, which my husband thought was neat. For our child’s eighth birthday my husband bought this book for her.
The story about The...

Yes like Piers said it's our 9th wedding anniversary...It dosen't feel like nine years.....We have a tradition where for every anniversary I get a red rose so this year I got nine of the most beautiful wonderful smelling roses they are gorgous. and the card with it brought tears to my eyes. Piers wrote:
"The first year was fun, it went by so fast.
The second year was smooth, I knew this would last.
And by the third year, when we hit our stride.
I'll never regret, that you were my bride.
And now we have nine, this is the real deal.
And nothing can match, the love that I feel.
Wasn't that sweet!!!!!!!!
