And here are the results:
Now I know it takes some imagination here, but from right to left (the 8 alternating colors) are my shield. It'll be cut round of course. With a shield boss in the middle. The two lighter boards on the left are the cross beams that will add support to the back of the shield. Thoughts?

I officially began work on my shield yesterday. My goals for my shield cover two points. The first is to make the shield strong, the second is to make it light. For my project I decided to use poplar which is one of the lightest hardwoods available. First I had to take these 3/4" boards and plane them down to 1/2", which is the standard thickness for most plywood shields.
I managed to finish that work last night, then I started staining (pictures to come). I chose to use two different color stains, one is a dark red mahogany, the other is a lighter english wood stain. I hope to finish the staining tonight. On saturday I will be using a biscuit joiner to cut the biscuit holes and then glue the shield together.

One thing has been missing from my story........ a Rogue. I need a character to stir the pot everyonce in a while....... I also need him to be a provaior(sp) of inconvinient objects. If the Princess would like penguin stuffed with unripe elderberries and spores of cacti, sauted in the juices squeesed from a Griffon's feather ........ This character would know exactly who to 'acquire' these ingredients from. I have the name of this character figured out....... Effrick worked on it last night The results?....... His name is......
Nevyre Elbailer........ Catchy, huh? I figure Nevyre is close enough to sounding like 'never' and Elbailer is 'reliable' backwards...... My biggest problem right now is how I'm going to introduce him into the story...... how should he look?............. So far, I have him being an old friend of Kadyr. The two met on one of Kadyr's escurtions as a kid......... I was thinking of having Nevyre running from some trouble and stumbling into Kadyr...... But would like some ideas on what kind of trouble, or how he should come across Kadyr.

Why are people so stupid? I dont get mad often, but I sure did last night.
I was scheduled to get Lasik on Monday, but not no more. When I arrived home after work yesterday, there was a message from the lasik institute. They wanted to let me know that they had spoken to the surgeon and he had changed my procedure from a standard lasik to a PRK. (Who friken cares. Im getting laser beams in my eyeballs on Monday and then I will never have to wear glasses again. Hmmm....I wonder why they called to let me know that.)Um, why did you call and let me know about the change?
Well, the PRK procedure is a little more......invasive.
DEFINE INVASIVE.
Well, it takes more time to recover from a PRK procedure.
DEFINE MORE TIME.
Some people can go back to work after only 5 to 7 days. Some people need up to two weeks off from work though.
5 to 7 DAYS!?!?!?!? WTF!?!?!?! For the past three months you told me that I would be back at work the next day. And now, three days before you shoot laser beams into my eyeballs you tell me that I wont be able to work for 5 to 14 days? And you think that is OK?

Broke out the lathe and attempted a modest drinking cup. Lots of on-the-fly learning and cursing, but did get it done. This one was just a test, but plan to turn out bigger and nicer ones in the near future.

Well I finally finished my class last night (with an A) So I just have to wait now for my diploma to come in the mail!!! I am so Happy it's like a huge weight lifted off my shoulders....after spending all this time working on it. I am so glad I went for my diploma instead of my GED...don't get me wrong a GED is all good....but I wanted a Diploma. I am the youngest of my mom's 3 kids (she also has a 5 year old she adopted) and I am the first to graduate. She seems really proud and happy about it.....I know it's probably not important in the since of I am not trying to find a job or anything, but now when my kids are older I can show it to them and let them know how important it was to me and how hard I had to work to get it instead of doing it when I was younger......Today I saw for the first time leah's graduation!!!! It was so exciteing. I am extremely proud of myself!

So, my hockey team just won their first game tonight!!! 5 to 3 an I got to play center!! Super fun! We had played these guys earlier, and had lost 3 to 0. Come to find out they had a Division 3 goalie...which is like 5 divisions higher than our level of play. So this time around, they had a fair goalie, we didn't dislocate one of their teammates shoulders and there were no 10 minute penalties for fighting. Woohoo!! Go Ice Lagers!!! As soon as I know our teams full season schedule, I'll post it on the forum. It might be fun for people to see me get my ass beat! :)

I just got a call from my real estate agent, Georgia. She called to congratulate us on the closing of our house and to see if we've been funded yet. (We haven't...still waiting for the bank to call...). She also had some new news, she called to tell us she just made the 2006 SeaGals squad. My real estate agent is a cheerleader. hehhehehheheheheee. I just had to share, it struck a funnybone.
